Second Chess Club! a reminder for parents.
Great day! I had a great time coaching students playing chess,
after some casual play we got down to mating with a queen and a king against a king. So often in games a student has a material advantage and just can't finish the job. Have your student practice this at home with you. As a parent you can get the king and have them show you how to mate with the two pieces.
please please please fill out the Weber Chess Program forms, It is very helpful for me to have parental contact information. Also the donation sponsors the 10th annual Weber-Borlaug chess tournament, which in years past has been the largest chess tournament in the state.

Day 1! Chess Club has begun!
Today Greta and Sean learned the importance of pawns. Greta got a pawn to Sean's back row..... she had two Queens! Whoo Hoo!
We then went to practicing how to checkmate with just one queen and a king vs a king.
Practice practice practice.
